“Kalaimamani” S. Vijayalakshmi Bhoopathi, currently running her dance institute successfully for past 19 years, started since 2003 in the name of “MAYURI ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS”, she started her career in Bharathanatyam at the age of 5 under the able guidance of her mother. She performed her ARRANGETRAM at the age of 9 at NADIGAR SANGAM. She is a Diploma holder in Bharathanatyam from government music college [Distinction & Gold Medal received from DR. S.P. BALASUBRAMANIYAM].M.A Graduate in Bharathanatyam from the Madras University and Diploma in BHARATHANATYAM Teacher Training &Diploma in NATTUVANGAM Teacher Training in Tamil University. She secured the college 1st in M. philBharathanatyam in Tamil Isai Kalloori. Vijayalakshmi has given more than 1800 performances in India. She had trained by kalaimamaniThiru.ThanjaiA.HEMANATH, Niruthiyasarashwathismt. DHANASUNDARI and Thiru. RAJESH KANNAN for Dance,KalaimamaniThiru. KUTHALAM SELVAM for Nattuvangam and Kalaimamanismt.GIRIJA RAMASAMY for Vocal.she received TamilnaduGovernment’s Highest award KALAIMAMANI in 2020 for Dance from the honorable chief minister. Her mastery has been recorded inINDIA BOOKS OF RECORDS, ASIA BOOK OF RECORDSand in ASSIST WORLD RECORDSby 15 students dancing continuously 30hrs for 1330 thirukural with the title “VALLUVAN KANDA BHARATHAM”. Her eminence has also been recorded in Guinness world records with the title “VIDHAIKALAM” [798 peoples dancing with sword]. Breast cancer awareness program with title “PUTRITRIRU DHANAME” conducted with 1075 GHS school, Arumbakkam students, held for World Feeding Week. Kalaimamani MS. VIJAYALAKSHMI BHOOPATHI is appointed as the head of the chair in THE ARTS AND MUSIC DEVELOPMENT CHAIR , International institute of Tamil study. Her troop was the first to present KalaivanarArangam’s initial dance performance in the presence of the former C.M of Tamilnadu. She is providing free dance training to poor students in her academy. And also she has been giving free dance training to government school students in arumbakkam.
